The Cacilhas ferry
A ten-minute commuter crossing that happens to be the best view in the city.
The orange ferries from Cais do Sodré to Cacilhas are public transport, priced like public transport, and used mostly by people going to work. They also give you the one view of Lisbon you cannot get from inside it: the whole hill city stacked up behind the water, with the bridge on one side and the river mouth on the other.
Sit outside on the upper deck, facing back towards the city. On the far side there is a working waterfront and a line of fish restaurants, which is a perfectly good reason to make the trip at the end of the afternoon and come back after dinner in the dark.
